Reps demand the execution of security resolutions so far in the 10th House

The House of Representatives has demanded the execution of it’s resolutions on security so far in the 10th House.

In a decisive move, the House of Representatives has mandated to match it’s resolutions on security with actions as it has tasked the Clerk of the House to compile all resolutions and forward the compilation to the office of the Security Adviser and the Committee on Legislative Compliance for action.

The resolution followed a motion by the Minority Leader of the House, Rep. Kingsley Chinda (PDP Rivers) and 27 other members of the the green chambers on “Need to Execute House Resolutions on Security”

Rep. Chinda, in his debate, highlighted alarming statistics to underscore the urgency of the matter he said, “According to the International Centre for Investigative Reporting, over 380 Nigerians had been kidnapped in January, 2024, and over 26.5 million Nigerians were projected by the Food and Agriculture Organisation to be food insecure in 2024,”

Chinda, expressing his concerns said “The worsening insecurity situation in the country, ranges from armed robbery to banditry, food theft, kidnaps, and killings which had a negative effect on the cost of living, especially the cost of food, as farmers and traders work in fear and thus charge more for their goods and services,”

He emphasized that the House having reached several resolutions in its bid to fight insecurity in the country and mitigate its attendant consequences and these resolutions are awaiting execution by the House.

Ibori Suenu Erinatake, Rep. Solomon Bob, Rep. Miriam Onuoha, Rep. Kwamoti Laori, Rep. Ogowu David Agada, Rep. Billy Osawaru, Rep. Mark Essiet, Rep. Kelechi Nwogu, Rep. Emerengwa Boniface Sunday, Rep. Felix Nwaeke, Rep. Victor Obuzor, Rep Cyril Hart, Rep. Chris Nkwonta, Rep. Thomas Ereyitomi, Rep. Abas Adigun, Rep. Gaza Gbefwi, Rep. Kabiru Adamu Mai Palace, Rep. Midala Balami, Rep Ibe Okwara Osanwa, Rep. Ginger Onwusibe and Rep Blessing Chigeru Amadi.
