Breaking: Senate suspends plenary, adjourns to mourn colleague

The Senate has adjourned its plenary sittings till Wednesday, 15th May, 2024 to mourn its late colleague in the House of Representatives, Rep. Isa Dogonyaro. It also held a minute silence in honour of the late lawmaker

This followed a motion by the Deputy Senate Leader, Oyelola Ashiru (APC, Kwara South) calling for an adjournment in line with the traditions of the Senate. 

He said, “In line with our traditions, in order to keep our honour and solidarity with our colleague in the House of Representatives, I wish to move that we adjourn our sitting till Wednesday, 15th May, 2024.”

The motion was thereafter seconded by the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro (PDP, Benue North East).

Late Rep. Dogonyaro, until his death represented Babura/Garki federal constituency in Jigawa State.

Dongpyaro died on Friday in Abuja, after a brief illness. He was 46 years of age.
