Lagos Rep heads Adhoc Committee to screen Service Chiefs

President Tinubu last Thursday requested that the House urgently confirms the Service Chiefs in compliance with the Armed Forces Act.

Service Chiefs

The House of Representatives, at its sitting on Tuesday, approved the composition of an ad-hoc committee to screen the newly appointed service chiefs.

The committee is to be chaired by Rep. Babajimi Benson, erstwhile Chairman of the Committee on Defence in the Ninth National Assembly.

Membership of the committee, as announced by speaker Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, includes all Principal Officers of the House from both the Majority and Minority Caucuses.

The President, in his communication to the House last week, said the submission is in substantial compliance with the provisions of Section 18 (1) of the Armed Forces Act (Laws of the Federation of Nigeria).

The Majority Caucus of the House has Rep. Julius Ihonvbere (APC Edo, Leader), Rep. Abdullah Ibrahim Halims (APC Kogi, Deputy Leader), Rep. Bello Kumo (APC Gombe, Chief Whip), and Rep. Oriyomi Onanuga (APC Oyo, Deputy Chief Whip).

In the Minority Caucus, the officers are Rep. Kingsley Chinda ( PDP Rivers, Minority Leader), Rep. Ali Madaki (NNPP Kano, Deputy Minority Leader), Rep. Ali Isa JC (PDP Gombe, Minority Whip), and Rep. George Ebizimawo (LP Anambra, Deputy Minority Whip).
